This morning, I got a mail from one of the numerous vendors who thinks he has the right to send me plenty of mails. Well, anyway it contained...

Here is the first paragraph of the mail:

XQuery 1.0 became an official W3C Recommendation on January 23, 2007. XQuery is already widely implemented and has achieved significant mindshare. XQuery was the star of the show at XML 2006, and is now being used in industrial-strength applications. For XML processing and data integration, XQuery is proving to be a key technology.

XQuery is an interesting technology, as it eases data extraction and specially XML data extraction. If I am not mistaken, DB2 implements it already. Many of the people working on the XQuery standard are IBMers, but there is also participation from AT&T, Oracle and DataDirect. Its endorsement by W3C, the World Wide Web Consortium makes it (finally) a standard.

Be ready to learn something new in the coming weeks...
